ABOUT ANGELA CINTOLESI
As a Computational Scientist in Systems Bioengineering for 10 years, and as a Technical Lead for Industrial Strain Development for 5 years, I evaluate different options for a successful outcome, and I combine knowledge from different sources into mechanistic mathematical models that greatly enrich learnings and provide project direction. I have a very analytical and creative mind that allows me to solve problems and meet deadlines. I effectively communicate output from my computational modeling work and multi-omics data analysis, in a simplified yet cohesive manner that enables collaboration with multidisciplinary project teams. Over the years, I have loved working in close collaboration with wet bench scientists, learnings new skills, and being involved in projects from early stages to industrial production. My contributions to the success of several projects are well recognized among team members and leadership alike. For example, I was a key contributor in several high-profile projects at Genomatica, as Technical Lead for Strain Development and as Computational Bioengineering Scientist:• Bio-1,4-butanediol (Hyosung, 1 billion dollar investment)• Bio-1,4-butanediol (Cargill, investment to increase production by tons/year)• Cannabigerolic acid CBGA (Creo, rare and high-quality cannabinoid)• Palm oil alternatives (Joint venture with Unilever, Kao and Loreal,$120 Million)• 1,3-butanediol (commercialized by different partners). CORE SKILLS: Discipline Related: Modeling. Metabolic Engineering. Systems Biology. Bioprocess. Optimization. Kinetic Modeling. Genome Scale Models. Flux Balance Analysis. Metabolic Pathway Optimization. Gene Regulation. Fermentation. Thermodynamics of metabolic pathways. Transcriptomics, Proteomics and Metabolomics data analysis. Statistics. Computer Skills: Advance expertise with Matlab, Cobra Toolbox (Matlab), Microsoft 365 and Spotfire. Basic knowledge of Python, Java, Copasi, and Visual BasicACTIVITIES, HONORS AND CERTIFICATIONS- Chemical and Biomolecular Engineering - Graduate Student Association, President (2011-12), Vice-President (2010-11), Social Chair (2009-10) Rice University- Fulbright-Conicyt Scholarship, 20••••12- First in the class (Biotechnology Engineer), University of Chile, Santiago, Chile, 2006- Undergraduate thesis presented with the Roberto Ovalle Aguirre Award by Institute of Engineers of Chile to best undergraduate thesis in Engineering- Six Sigma Green Belt Certification, DuPont, 2015- From Laboratory to Leadership workshop, Genomatica, 2019
