ABOUT ANGEL FERNANDEZ

Experienced global leader with wide expertise in Health Care and the Pharmaceutical industry. International career spanning several regions and countries including Spain and Portugal, Central & Eastern Europe, LatAm and USA. Angel has a solid and extensive knowledge of the pharmaceutical sector, resulting from over 40 years of experience in the industry. Strong focus on leadership and organizational capabilities. Customer orientation and profitable growth with a significant emphasis on CSR have been key drivers to success. Enthusiastic, people and team oriented, highly committed with company goals. Angel Fernandez was President and CEO of MSD Spain and Portugal from November 2012 until July 2019. He was VP of the Governing Council of Farmaindustria, Chairman of the LAWG, Patron of the Fipse and Medina Foundations. Active member of American Business Council and the American Chamber of Commerce. He has been distinguished with the Silver Medal of Merit by the University of Alcala and the Fundamed award recognizing his professional career. Prior to this date, starting November 2009, he was President of Latin America leading the integration of MSD and Schering-Plough, reaching the No. 1 position in the ranking of pharmaceutical companies in the region. During this time, he was also a member of the Board of the Council of the Americas. He was President and CEO of Schering-Plough in Spain leading the integration process following the merger between Schering Plough and Organon in 2008. In parallel, he was also a member of the Board of Directors of AMCHAM, and Vice President of Farmaindustria. He began his professional career in 1976 at Schering-Plough Spain, successfully managing operations in Central and Eastern Europe, Argentina and Ecuador and holding management positions in the United States of America and Mexico. Angel holds a Master in Business Administration from Instituto de Empresa (IE) of Madrid, and graduated in Economics from the Complutense University of Madrid (Spain).
