ABOUT ANDRZEJ TOWAROWSKI

Dr. Andrzej (Andy) Towarowski received his MD from Ludwig-Maximilian-University Munich after having participated to the Munich-Harvard Educational Alliance program. He also attended University of Sydney School of Medicine for a clinical clerkship. He completed his doctoral thesis at the Division of Clinical Pharmacology (head Prof. Stefan Endres) working in immunology. Following this he acquired a Master of Business Administration in International Management at the University of Applied Sciences Hamburg. After starting in the industry as CRA responsible for investigational sites in several European Countries for Johnson & Johnson and Allergan Andy joined Servier as Project Manager responsible for phase trials in Germany, Austria and Switzerland. Having spent over nine years with this company, he decided to add oncology to his portfolio and joined Roche as Regional Country Study Manager for central and eastern Europe. After efficiently managing clinical trials with different compounds in various indications Andy moved on to become Global Study Leader at AstraZeneca. Here he successfully completed a landmark megatrial yielding results which subsequently led to guideline updates. Currently Andy is Director Strategy & Planning Phase IV Solutions at Labcorp From his beginnings as lab researcher co-authoring several highly published original papers he continued in the pharmaceutical industry in various positions until today. He has been responsible for phase I-IV studies, spanning dozens of countries worldwide, various indications including stroke, Alzheimer’s disease, heart failure, arterial hypertension, diabetes, pain, hyperactive bladder, breast cancer, stomach cancer, and depression. His duties included feasibility, study placement, site set-up, internal and external meetings, recruitment, medical advice, close-out, and handover to marketing. He has written study protocols, monitoring plans, data review guides, and other relevant study documents. He is a well-trained presenter fluent in English, German and Polish. With over 20 years’ experience in drug research, Andy has become an expert in clinical development. He has worked on numerous indications and he is familiar with all study phases. Andy has successfully led global projects providing team guidance, medical expertise, and cultural sensitivity. He considers himself a strategic cooperation facilitator who has both sponsor and CRO experience. Currently, he works for Labcorp Drug Development providing operational strategy for late phase clinical studies.
