ABOUT AMELIA KIDD

Amelia is the Assistant Director for one of Housing Works\' community behavioral health clinics. Housing Works is a healing community focused on ending homelessness and HIV/AIDS through advocacy, housing, employment opportunities, and accessible healthcare services. In the Assistant Director position, Amelia clinically supervises a team made up of therapists and oversees administrative tasks like quality improvement, metric tracking, and program development. Amelia also maintains a caseload of clients, utilizing EMDR, CBT, DBT, motivational interviewing within a harm reduction framework, and relational therapies to help clients meet their goals. Amelia has been recognized for her work within the agency, receiving an outstanding service award in 2019 for integrating mental healthcare into one of Housing Works\' primary care clinics.Amelia came to Housing Works through the Mental Health Service Corps (MHSC), a part of NYC First Lady Chirlane McCray\'s ThriveNYC initiative to improve the mental health of all New Yorkers. In addition to serving as a community-based therapist, Amelia was asked to participate in a number of advisory roles, including participating in a focus group with First Lady McCray, serving on the MHSC advisory board, and serving on the Training and Education Committee.Amelia has nurtured a life-long passion for the arts, voicing a lead character in a successful audiodrama, taking ballet classes, playing the cello and the ukulele, and listening to every musical theater soundtrack she can find. Amelia believes that the arts are a powerful force for emotional healing and is passionate about exploring how mental health is presented in fiction. She has written articles for an animation publication about how trauma and healing from trauma are portrayed in animated TV shows.Amelia holds a BA with High Honors from Swarthmore College and a Master\'s of Social Work from New York University. When she\'s not working, dancing, or playing music, Amelia enjoys spending time with friends, family, and her rescue cat.
