ABOUT MANDY LAYDEN

In my current role in asset infrastructure management, I am expanding my skills and experience within the cycling and trails industry. By delving into the technical aspects of this field, I aim to enhance and promote sustainable, accessible cycling as the preferred mode of transport for both commuting and recreation. This approach aligns with global efforts to invest in walking and cycling infrastructure, which have been shown to improve connectivity, reduce traffic congestion, and offer numerous economic, environmental, health, and social benefits. I am proud to have graduated as a member of the inaugural cohort of the Marjorie Jackson-Nelson Centre for Women\'s Sport Program, a professional development initiative designed to empower women in sport across South Australia. This comprehensive year-long course encompassed eight core modules, including leadership, media, financial literacy, empowerment and connection, sport psychology, nutrition, and more. Following my graduation, I have continued my involvement as part of the Alumnae team and advisory group, dedicated to expanding upon the academy\'s success and fostering a vibrant and empowering environment for women in sport. In my previous role as a Project Manager at the Department for Environment and Water, I was deeply committed to fostering sustainable and accessible outdoor recreation in South Australia through the creation and implementation of effective strategies. With up to 20 years of comprehensive experience in project management, marketing, and partnerships, I\'ve successfully spearheaded projects that bring forth significant social, environmental, and economic benefits, particularly in the realms of shared-use trails and mountain biking. Noteworthy accomplishments in my portfolio encompass crafting a statewide trail strategy and working towards developing a departmental mountain bike strategy. I\'ve excelled in managing high-level relationships and negotiations with stakeholders, advising sustainable business models, identifying new business opportunities and income streams, and overseeing brand and event management in a variety of my roles. I continuously engage in a diverse range of ongoing professional development initiatives. Proficient in collaboration and community engagement, social networking, marketing communications, and new business development, I am always eager to connect with like-minded professionals who share my vision for empowering success through meaningful connections.
