Assists in managing a $650M annual operating budget which supports matriculated students and 850 staff for the world’s first collegiate and consistently top-ranked business school.• Responsible for the day-to-day financial operations and planning of three departments: Global Initiatives, Wharton San Francisco, and the Wharton Doctoral Program. All include various funding sources such as tuition revenue, grants, endowments, and gifts.• Collaborates with each department individually to build their budget for the next academic year by learning their objectives and priorities, examining the political and economic climate, and determining what changes from the previous year’s budget may be more aligned with Wharton’s goals.• Participates in quarterly forecasting to adjust the budget throughout the year based on actual spending and needs that may arise. If additional funding is warranted, a strong justification must be provided.• Maintains and analyzes monthly reporting and spending to ensure efficient use of dollars that is in line with both Wharton and Penn’s policies as well as federal regulations, to uphold financial integrity.• Reviews and quickly resolves problems related to operations such as student billing, purchasing, invoicing, and payroll. Those issues are then proactively addressed with process improvements.• Serves as a liaison and maintains strong business relationships with both internal and external contacts such as students, faculty, vendors, and donors.
