WORK HISTORY
Director @Galbraith
I have worked as a Rural Practice Chartered Surveyor in North East England and The Scottish Borders for over 30 years.I am a Member of The Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors (MRICS) and Fellow of The Central Association of Agricultural Valuers (FAAV), having qualified for both in 1992. I am involved in virtually all aspects of rural property management and consultancy, but focus on advising the owners and occupiers of rural property on such matters as agricultural landlord and tenant issues, succession and tax planning, enhancing income and capital value, compulsory purchase, valuation, sales, acquisitions and lettings of agricultural property, and dispute resolution. I am a Registered Valuer under the RICS Registered Valuer Scheme. I gain particular satisfaction from brokering deals which people previously thought impossible, and from achieving resolutions between hostile or potentially hostile parties which leave both sides feeling fairly treated and which indeed maintain, or restore, good relations. This, and the negotiation of off-market rural property deals, have been a particular specialism over the last 15 years.I am also a Panel Valuer for The Agricultural Mortgage Corporation, which specialises in lending to the land-based sector.I am passionate about trying to promote the health and prosperity of the rural economy. With this in mind, I have been heavily involved in the Country Land and Business Association (CLA) for many years, and am currently a member of the Association\'s North East Branch Committee.I was also, until August 2018, a member of the Northumberland Uplands Local Action Group under the LEADER grant scheme.
