Provide technical support to test technicians on key tribological projects related to rocketengine mechanisms such as seals, rotors, bushings, bearings, valves, and sliding interfaces- Assist component designers in developing wear interfaces with suitable materials, finishes, and geometries capable of robust operation in launch and in-space environments- Collaborate with various engines and rocket assembly structural departments to help select material systems that meet design requirements- Execute coupon testing to screen materials for wear life/damage modalities in mimicked in-launch and in-space environments- Recommend and execute coupon testing to screen materials for wear life and damage modalities- Provide technical guidance in the modification of test equipment to optimize wear tests to fully represent interfacial loading and environmental conditions (e.g, room temperature, high temperature, vacuum, and cryogenic) present or foreseen in rocket engine/structural assemblies and mechanisms- Development of standardized characterization methodologies to evaluate interfacialworn rocket engine components- Development, characterization, and experimental testing of advanced friction and wear-resistant coatings for in-flight engines/structural hardware- Identify technology gaps in rocket engine tribological interfaces and execute development efforts to improve technology readiness for future designs- Conceptualize and create sub-scale mechanical/tribological testing systems and drawings for tools, coupon fixtures, and test coupons- Execute testing within the test team to meet program schedules and provide accurate results- Synthesize test experimental results and communicate to key engineering programs to develop scopes for future testing
