ABOUT ALANA BORKWOOD
I am a Strategic Programme Lead who thrives in complex, high-pressure environments. My career to-date has been defined by a series of rapid promotions driven by my ability to step into ambiguous situations of increasing scale and leave them stronger, more efficient, and more human-centric than I found them. I’m often described by colleagues and partners as an \"energiser\" and a \"culture driver\", a result of my belief that you do not have to choose between results and a healthy team culture. What I’m most proud of in my recent work at IN4 Group:1. Operational evolution: I transitioned our risk and revenue forecasting from a holistic approach to a granular, user-level tracking system. This provided near real-time insights needed for precision P&L management and significantly improved our forecasting accuracy.2. Inclusive economic impact: I re-designed and spearheaded FreelanceHER, allowing me to prove that high-growth enterprise support can be both commercially successful and deeply representative. We supported 208 individuals, with 53.5% identifying as Non-White, 25% Non-Heterosexual, and 20.5% as Disabled, resulting in over 60 new or planned business starts.3. Governance as a partner: I believe the best results come from working with partners, not just for them. I’ve spent significant time partnering with LAs to co-design success metrics that underpin our achievements across multiple regions.4. Commercial turnaround: During periods of transition, I’ve stepped in to stabilise at-risk 7-figure contracts, recovering £850k in revenue and achieving a 96% completion rate through agile iteration and matrix leadership. From helping emerging tech talent access paid opportunities to translating user feedback into improvements that stick, I specialise in building trusted multi-sector relationships and translating strategic vision into practical initiatives that deliver tangible outcomes. I am motivated by responsibility and the agency to shape culture. I’m a big believer in evidence-based policy, authentic leadership, and the power of being a high achiever who stays grounded in making a deep impact for customers, users, and the communities they represent. If you’re building something that supports people, skills, or communities - or just want to swap ideas - I’m always happy to connect. Cake and coffee invitations are highly welcome too!
