ABOUT ZAK MILLER
Clear understanding is a requirement for clear communications. This is how I have always tried to approach the projects and challenges that I\'ve encountered during my career. Knowing how to communicate effectively requires empathy and that can only be developed by forming genuine bonds with the both the people you serve, and the colleagues who join you in that work. I have always enjoyed working with a diverse range of ideas, on meaningful projects, with dedicated people. I am passionate about clear and compelling communications that engage an audience and sparks their interest. This has translated well into my practice areas in communications and public affairs\', where I have worked on projects ranging from neighborhood MUD board elections, to running the public outreach effort on behalf of Texas largest insurer after the affordable care act, to training crisis counselors and law enforcement officers on implicit bias, to managing a project for the Hellen Keller National Center to help people with dual-sensory loss find help with their day-to-day communications. My career has encompassed nearly every communications discipline from press relations for healthcare providers to strategic planning for colleges and universities. The teams that I have managed have garnered incredible results from winning state-wide amendments to the Texas Constitution, to generating more than $20 million in earned publicity value for the largest workforce development agency in the U.S. I also understand how the internal structures of an organization need to work in harmony to reach its goals and navigate the challenges that change can bring to team, a department, or an entire business. While I have learned much in my professional career, I am always eager to learn more and contribute the best of my abilities to the project, client, or business that needs me. As a generalist and consultant I enjoy nurturing the talents of a diverse team and taking the projects and programs I oversee to the next level of growth and success.
