ABOUT ZACK B.
I am an organizer by trade with a passion for strengthening and sustaining the civic engagement capacity of grassroots and community organizations. I believe the most effective campaigns are anchored by groups with deep relationships in impacted communities acting as trusted messengers. I have spent the last 18 years working to create social change, with experience on both hard side/electoral campaigns and 501c3 advocacy organizations. As the Co-Director of State Capacity Building at State Voices, I work to connect the nonpartisan civic engagement plans and needs of our 24 affiliated states to the support and resources available at the national level. This is accomplished by bringing a relational organizing mindset to capacity building. I meet with our state leadership 1:1 to create custom support packages, unique to the challenges they are experiencing in their state. Additionally, I have worked to streamline the organization\'s grant making systems, process, and strategy, distributing more than $20 million in 3 years to every state in our network. Previously, as the Founder and Executive Director of the Nebraska Civic Engagement Table, I launched Nebraska’s first major nonpartisan civic engagement campaign. Our coalition grew from 16 founding members contributing to nearly direct voter contact attempts in 2016 to 73 members and just over 1 million attempts in the 2020 cycle. You will often find me enthusiastically advocating on behalf of my states or hyper-focused on a spreadsheet.
