ABOUT ZACH WILCOX

I am an award-winning economist, leading teams that solve complex economic development challenges in the UK and abroad. With 15 years of research, policy, strategy, and delivery expertise, I lead high-performing and inclusive teams effectively and confidently. I collaborate with ministers and senior leaders in Whitehall, local government and business to deliver impactful projects for places.I thrive when collaborating across disciplines to shape new ways of working. I bring economic development, policy and strategy thinking that is shaped by social, environmental and design considerations. This approach has helped me win awards leading ecocnomics in multidisciplinary teams, including-Institute for Collaborative Working: Social Impact Award (2021)-Landscape Institute Awards: Innovation (2021)-MIPIM: Best Cultural and Sports Infrastructure (2021)-Association for Project Management: Programme of the Year, Finalist (2021)-Planning Awards: Award for Partnership Working, Finalist (2023In an increasingly complex world, I believe economists have a responsibility to consider all aspects of people and place that shape its success. While leading Local Growth & Governance at Arup, I developed the \'Total Place\' concept, where economics and finance worth together with design, social and environmental considerations. This work is challenging, but it drives us to think more about the relationships of the systems we live within and how we operate as city-shapers.
