ABOUT YVETTE BEVIS

Throughout my diverse career journey, I\'ve consistently centered my expertise on simplifying and communicating complex information in the world of geospatial technology and data communication. As a Cartographer, I mastered the art of transforming vast datasets into easily understandable map visualisations. I fine-tuned my skills in data curation and meaningful display, ensuring that information resonated with its intended audience while advancing my GIS analysis and data engineering expertise. Transitioning to a Senior Technical Trainer at Esri South Africa, I became a daily educator on ArcGIS software. This role deepened my communication and presentation skills and allowed me to specialise in intricate GIS concepts like Enterprise Architecture and Enterprise Geodatabases. I also delved into Python scripting and web development, and contributed to the development of a GIS Diploma offered by Esri South Africa. Simultaneously, I pursued a MSc in Geoinformatics, culminating in a dissertation on visualising uncertainty in 3D. This research journey resulted in a published journal article in the International Journal of Cartography and a presentation at the International Cartographic Conference in 2017. My third career transition saw me in a client-facing role at Esri South Africa as a GIS Specialist, bridging pre and post-sales support. I designed ArcGIS solutions to meet client needs, conducted product demonstrations, and contributed to proposals. Post-sales, I delved into the realms of Insurance and Banking, crafting industry-specific solutions and serving as the primary technical advisor for Insurance organisations. My international move to Esri Australia as a Senior Solution Engineer marked a pivotal moment in my career. I had the opportunity to work closely with clients, understanding their needs and designing tailored ArcGIS solutions. This experience ignited my passion for Cloud GIS solutions, eventually leading to my role as a Delivery Architect in the Managed Services team. In this capacity, I was responsible for the service design and pricing of client solutions, merging technical expertise with commercial acumen. Today, I lead the innovation capability within the Managed Services team, driving forward-thinking solutions and fostering a culture of continual improvement.
