ABOUT YANA KUCHIRKO
I take a sociostructural approach to child development, with a focus on how children and youth are socialized at the intersections of culture, ethnicity/race, and gender, and how such socialization patterns are shaped by societal structures. My work is grounded in theories and scholarship across disciplines, with an emphasis on critical perspectives, macro-level ideologies and narratives that shape conceptions of children and childhood across the globe. I co-lead the Diversity Science Research Collective at CUNY.
