ABOUT WILFRED KIPKOGEI
I was attached to Kenya Petroleum Refineries Limited where I learnt various skills such as: Water analysis- pH, total suspended solids and alkalinity. Hydrocarbon analysis- density, flashpoint, octane number, sulfur and Odour. Bitumen analysis- specific gravity and penetration of bitumen. Preparation of reagents-sodium plumbite for doctor test, potassium hydroxide for total acidity, sodium tetra-borate, 5N sodium hydroxide and 5.25 sulfuric acid. Calibration of instruments- pH meter, conductivity meter and density meter. I also had the privilege to learn techniques such as firefighting skills, sampling, laboratory information management system, chemical preparation and pre-treatment, and laboratory safety and management.
