ABOUT WARIGIA BOWMAN
I am the Hatch Professor of Law at the University of New Mexico School of Law. My interdisciplinary research addresses complex problems at the intersection of water, energy, natural resources, and infrastructure. I have over eighteen years of teaching experience in law and policy, and have taught at the graduate as well as the undergraduate level, in the US and abroad. My passions include ensuring access to clean water, advancing rural economic development, and developing renewable energy, both in the US and globally. Although my focus is on water and infrastructure issues, I do my best to thoughtfully address issues of gender and racial equity in my research whenever possible. I serve as the faculty supervisor for the Natural Research Journal at UNM School of Law. I teach courses on water law, natural resources law, administrative law and property. I mentor students who are interested in pursuing careers in these fields. I have published multiple articles in law reviews as well as peer reviewed fora and am working on my second book. I am proud of my work with first generation students, with Hispanic students, with African American students, and with Native American students.
