ABOUT WALTER D.
As the head of Quality Assurance at a computational chemistry software company, where I have worked since 2009, I supervise an international team that covers the user-end testing of a suite of programs. During my tenure I have overseen the testing of over fifty products bundled within multiple releases each year. In that time, I have transitioned the team\'s efforts from an exclusively manual procedure to one that includes back-end and GUI automated testing. I also created a system by which QA members regularly communicate with project managers about the health of their products in a given build. A number of the people that I have hired and trained have been promoted to other areas of the company.I have a B.S. in Chemistry from Carnegie Mellon, an M.S. in Inorganic/Organic Chemistry from the University of Oregon, and a Ph.D. in Physical Chemistry from the University of Washington. Before moving to industry, I worked as a computational science researcher (see Google Scholar link below), and as a teacher, both in graduate school and as an adjunct professor.
