ABOUT VISHAL KAPADIA

I am a board-certified internal medicine and hospice and palliative medicine physician who is compassionate about providing high-quality care to my patients. My medical journey started as a hospitalist, where I discovered a love for hospice and palliative medicine. I attended a hospice and palliative medicine fellowship at the University of Kansas Medical Center, where I learned the fundamentals of our field. I also was influenced to join social media (#blameSinclair). I started as an Assistant Professor in Palliative Medicine at UT Southwestern Medical Center Faculty, where I founded and directed an embedded palliative care clinic with the Department of Otolaryngology. I have also co-founded and am the acting president of the Texas Consortium of Hospice and Palliative Medicine, which was created to connect hospice and palliative care physicians and improve education collaboration throughout Texas. I currently work for Landmark Health, a home-based medical care group, as a Palliative Physician Lead in Dallas, Temple, and Austin, TX. My goal is to promote upstream palliative care to our patients at home. Outside of my professional job, I am a proud father of my twin girls. One of my girls spent over 4 months in the NICU after she was born. Through that experience, I became a NICU parent advocate. I have used that platform with my palliative care training to promote improving the communication skills of NICU providers and to provide better family-centered care.
