ABOUT VALERIE FITZHUGH
I now serve as chair of the departments of Pathology at 2 medical schools; I am also senior vice president of pathology services within New Jersey’s largest health system, giving me experience in management, both clinically and in research as well as in leadership. I’m also an advocate for underrepresented minorities, particularly black people, in the practice of pathology and medicine, and like to speak to children as young as 4-5 and up about pathology. My areas of expertise are in bone and soft tissue pathology and cytopathology. Bone and soft tissue pathology includes primary neoplasms, both benign and malignant, and metastatic malignancies, as well as other non-neoplastic conditions. I am currently practicing as a surgical and cytopathologist signing out cases in most areas of surgical pathology including bone and soft tissue pathology and all areas of cytopathology.
