ABOUT URFAN ALI

I work at the intersection of narrative, design, and social change, helping organisations move from good intentions to meaningful inclusion. For over 25 years, I’ve partnered with values-led brands, causes, and leaders to build products, services, and experiences that reflect the realities of the people they serve. My lens is multi-disciplinary and cross-cultural; my focus is always on how ideas translate into practice for social good.Alongside my work in inclusive design, stakeholder research, and partnership development, and as the child of working class immigrant parents, I’ve spent much of my career championing social mobility, creating pathways for people from underrepresented backgrounds to enter, thrive, and lead within creative and professional industries. I also act as an advisor and critical ally to CEOs and boards.I am an Advisor and Senior Associate at Babbasa, a multi-award-winning social enterprise based in Bristol. Babbasa supports aspiring young people (15-30), disadvantaged by ethnicity, background, location or lack of opportunity to pursue their professional ambitions through a range of support and training programmes. I am Founder of The Phrontistery Project, an evolving body of work that brings together rare and culturally specific words that provide a vocabulary for how we experience, understand, and move through life. Planted in the belief that language shapes perception, the project seeks to surface words that give form to feelings, relationships, and ways of being.
