ABOUT UGOCHI WEST

As Program Manager at the Centre for Entrepreneurship Education and Development (CEED), I lead Leveling It Up, a federally funded initiative supporting underrepresented women and gender-diverse entrepreneurs across Canada. Backed by the WES Ecosystem Fund, this national strategy focuses on advancing equity, skills development, and inclusive economic empowerment. I bring 15+ years of cross-sector experience spanning public service, academia, and venture capital. My background includes leading large-scale program delivery, designing EDIA-aligned evaluation frameworks, and supporting systemic change through culturally responsive service design. I have supported over 600 diverse clients through strategic mentorship, training, and access to networks. I hold a Master of Technology, Entrepreneurship & Innovation (MTEI) from Saint Mary\'s University, where I also served as a Business Development Consultant, Venture Associate, and now as General Partner at Venture Grade, an early-stage investment fund focused on inclusive innovation. Previously, I founded Alvana’s Legacy for Africa, a social enterprise empowering women and youth entrepreneurs in Nigeria. I am also a 2018 Mandela Washington Fellow recognized by the U.S. Department of State for civic leadership. Whether managing federal programming, advising startups, or building inclusive economic ecosystems, I am passionate about value creation, equitable access, and community-centered innovation. My work is grounded in service, systems thinking, and the belief that sustainable impact starts with inclusive design.
