Evaluate existing products for re-design based on issues raised by customers, vendors or internal team. Assess functions to determine whether new product would enhance existing product line or provide additional function for customers. Collect data on products through reports, testing and customer information.• Utilize computer aided engineering, analytical, and sophisticated instrumentation technology to assist in the development of company products. Maintain professional technical competence in fields of engineering science.• Coordinate activities surrounding line or range of products, following product from design through production. Organize activities to implement new product introductions.• Develop project timelines and product cost comparisons, select materials, commercial parts and technical data.• Design new and/or re-designs existing product line. Produces designs, complex layouts, assemblies, detail parts drawings and generates associated bills of material. Ensures designs support cost effectiveness.• Specify product testing. Follow up appropriately in correcting errors. Work with QA to ensure quality and ISO standards are met. Sometimes involved in patent applications for new or existing products.• Follow ISO and other global quality standards/guidelines as required regarding design and production of new/revised products. Assist manufacturing and quality departments in correcting any problems encountered in the machine shop or on the assembly floor.• Provide clear, concise, and precise verbal and written communications. Write reports for timely, accurate, comprehensive, and graphic content of technical information.
