ABOUT TYRA JACKSON
Tyra L. Jackson received her Ph.D. in Communication from of Texas University in August 2023. She earned her bachelor’s degree and master’s degree from the University of Alabama. Jackson specializes in Media, Culture and Identity. Her research interests include Black journalists and Black communities. She has served as an instructor of record for various communication courses through her role as a teaching assistant for the department. She was awarded the Fasken Graduate Teaching Award from TAMU’s College of Liberal Arts for her excellence in teaching. Before entering TAMU, she was a journalist at the Selma Times Journal, the Opelika-Auburn News and the Panama City News Herald.
