As an organisation scales, internal infrastructure must evolve from being merely functional to truly frictionless. Following the launch of a new strategic direction which was kick started by our CTO, I transitioned from my role as QA Team Lead to help re-establish and lead the Tooling team. By drawing on our collective experience of the process tax within our existing systems, we can ensure that our mission of moving beyond engineering heavy legacy systems is a success. The goal is to build intuitive, bespoke platforms that are fit for use by stakeholders across the entire business.Key Team Objectives & Focus:Leadership of a Multi Disciplinary Squad: Leading a dedicated team of developers and working in close partnership with our Product Manager to transform internal requirements into scalable software.Strategic Stakeholder Management: Acting as a key point of contact for the CTO and Head of Product to ensure the tooling roadmap addresses the most critical organisational bottlenecks.User Centric Platform Evolution: Transitioning from complex, engineering centric tools to accessible, company-wide solutions. The team focuses on lowering the barrier to entry for non-technical colleagues to ensure our internal systems empower everyone.Greenfield Development & Modernisation: Overseeing the end to end delivery of new internal tools. We build from the ground up to replace manual workarounds with automated solutions that reduce the operational burden on the business.Hybrid Technical Execution: Balancing squad leadership and roadmap planning with hands on delivery. The team manages everything from requirements gathering to building, testing, and refining core features, and we do this with a quality first mindset.
