ABOUT TOM STACEY
I\'ve been working in the IT industry since 2005, starting—as many do—in 1st line support. My early days involved providing Windows Server and desktop support to small businesses, where I built the foundations of my technical and customer service skills. From there, I moved into second-line roles, taking on greater responsibilities, project work, and the occasional fire to put out.Along the way, I learned invaluable lessons from senior engineers, technical insight, troubleshooting approaches, and most importantly, the art of managing customer expectations.After a stint in shift work (not for me!), I found a new opportunity at Softcat within the Microsoft team. This marked my shift from on-prem technologies to cloud services, with a focus on O365 and Azure. I quickly gravitated toward Azure and grew into a third-line cloud engineer.In time, my journey led me to team leadership. The focus shifted from purely technical tasks to people management. A transition that revealed a new passion. Today, I’m proud to hold a management role, where I strive to be the kind of leader I would want for myself.I’m committed to continually investing in myself, my team, and the future, always learning, always improving.
