I commenced my current post as Head of Procurement at Bedford Hospital in April 1994. The Trust non-pay spend has increased over time to circa £50million. The Procurement Function strives to ensure best value and that best practice professional and ethical behaviours are applied to all contracting. I write the Procurement Dept strategy and develop the accompanying work plan to deliver it. I have intrduced electronic requisitioning and ordering and am in the process of implementing a managed electronic catalogue once up and running I will then look to complete the Purchase to Pay journey by moving to electronic invoicing. Other developments have been the adoption of the ADB Multiquote RFQ system and the Due North E-tendering package. An independent Procurement Diagnostic was carried out on the department in December 2012 and this demonstrated that Procurement are making good progress when measured against the NHS Procurement Development Programme. I have led on a number of major EU Compliant Contracts for the entire Bedfordshire Health economy including- Enteral Feeds. Payroll Non Emergency Patient Transport Total Waste Management I have been part of a procurement team outsourcing the Trusts Pathology Services involving the TUPE of over 100 staff Both I and my Deputy are CIPS qualified
