ABOUT TOM BOWES

Working in the dance sector for 15 years, I am currently Interim Head of Creative Programmes at DanceEast, leading the organisation’s creative strategy and programmes. I currently oversee the Creative Team - the driving force behind DanceEast - and together we deliver an ambitious, inclusive programme spanning work with artists, communities, and young people.Previously, I worked as Producer for Children & Young People, which included leading the Centre for Advanced Training (CAT), youth programmes, schools activity, and creative projects. I also continue to play a key role in the National Centres for Advanced Training in Dance Partnership, contributing to the strategic development of pre-vocational dance training across the country.I trained at the University of Roehampton (BA Hons Dance) and Trinity Laban (MA Dance Performance with Transitions Dance Company). I was also part of the 2023 Clore Leadership Pulse cohort - an intensive development course supporting strategic, resilient, and reflective leadership across the arts and cultural sectors.My career has spanned producing, project management, and dance education, with roles at Trinity Laban, Northern School of Contemporary Dance, and as a freelancer. I previously co-chaired the Governors at an Ipswich primary school, advocating for arts provision and SEND inclusion.At the heart of my work is a belief in dance as a transformative, joyful, and unifying art form - one that enriches lives and strengthens communities. I’m committed to raising the profile of dance and ensuring it remains accessible, ambitious, and impactful for everyone.
