ABOUT TOBIAS HEER
Tobias is the Dean of the faculty of Computer Science and Engineering and a professor at Esslingen University. In 2024, he received the State Teaching Award of the state of Baden-Württemberg. He teaches IT Security and Networking. Before he was teaching IT security at Albstadt-Sigmaringen University until 2020. He is also active as researcher in the field of Future Networking Technologies at Hirschmann Automation and Control. Before he was leading the embedded software development department (embedded development - functions) with a focus on wireless communication, security and redundancy at Hirschmann Automation and Control and was leading hardware and software development projects as multi-project leader. Until June 2012, he was a postdoctoral researcher at the Chair of Communication and Distributed Systems at RWTH Aachen University. He managed the network-related aspects of wirless and security related thrid party projects. He was a member of the graduate school for software for communication systems from 2006 to 2009. His research focus is mobile communications, efficient end-host mobility, and network security. Tobias was involved in the development and standardization of the Host Identity Protocol in the Internet Engineering Task Force (IETF). Tobias began his studies in Computer Science at the University of Tübingen (Germany) in and graduated as a Diplom-Informatiker (MSc equiv.) in 2006 with honors. He was working for the Helsinki Institute for Information Technology (HIIT) in Finland from October 2005 to May 2006 where he was working on his Diplomarbeit on Lightweight Authentication for the Host Identifier Protocol for which he was awarded the KuVS prize for the best Diploma thesis in 2007. In 2011, he finished his dissertation with the title \"Direct End-to-Middle Authentication in Cooperative Networks\" with honors. From 2001 to 2005 Tobias developed dynamic web applications for :meacon.media.technology.design.
