ABOUT TIMPY YADAV

I am an Industrial Marie Skłodowska-Curie Actions (MSCA) Doctoral Researcher at Queen Mary University of London, working under the supervision of Prof. Marina Resmini. My research focuses on developing seaweed-based coatings as sustainable alternatives to plastic packaging, integrating materials chemistry and environmental science to promote circular and eco-friendly solutions. I also conduct research to understand the biodegradation and ecotoxicity of these materials in order to evaluate their overall environmental fate.As part of the GreenX3 project, I collaborate with Notpla, where I gain hands-on experience in formulating and testing bio-based coatings using industrially relevant methods such as contact angle, Cobb, KIT, and pinhole tests. This work bridges academic research with real-world applications in sustainable materials innovation.Previously, I completed the Erasmus Mundus Joint Master’s in Environmental Contamination and Toxicology, studying across France, Norway, Spain, and Switzerland. My master’s thesis at ETH Zurich investigated the photochemical ageing of marine plastics, contributing to the understanding of plastic degradation in marine environments. I am passionate about applying my analytical chemistry expertise to address global environmental challenges and advance sustainable material development.
