ABOUT TIM SWEENEY

I’m the President and CEO of Liberty Mutual Insurance. Since joining Liberty as a director in the Corporate Strategy group, I’ve held leadership roles of increasing responsibility in strategy, multi-channel distribution, product management, marketing, and global operations and have overseen numerous successful insurance company acquisition and integration efforts.In 2018, I was named President of Global Retail Markets (now US Retail Markets), Liberty Mutual’s global consumer and small commercial unit. I later became President of Liberty Mutual, overseeing all three of the company’s business units — Global Retail Markets (now US Retail Markets), Global Risk Solutions and Liberty Mutual Investments. I began my current role on Jan. 1, 2023.I’m passionate about building a high-performance and innovative culture that embraces an equitable and inclusive environment where all employees are driven to help our customers embrace today and confidently pursue tomorrow.I’m proud to serve on the board of directors of the Massachusetts Competitive Partnership (MACP) and the Statue of Liberty-Ellis Island Foundation, Inc. In addition, I chair the annual Aspire fundraiser at Massachusetts General Hospital, which provides social services and development opportunities for children and young adults on the Autism spectrum. I’m also on the executive committee of the board of the Massachusetts Business Roundtable and on MIT President’s CEO advisory board. In addition, I’m a member of the Business Council and the Geneva Association.I hold a BA in Economics from Harvard University and an MBA from Harvard Business School. A native of Lowell, Massachusetts, I currently reside in the Boston area.
