Assist in the management of state government and public affairs programs for the world\'s largest manufacturer and distributor of indoor and hydroponic growing supplies. • Directly reports to Vice President External Affairs & President of ScottsMiracle-Gro’s Foundation helping to manage the state government and public affairs programs for the world’s largest manufacturer and distributor of indoor and hydroponic growing supplies as well as the philanthropic activities of the Hawthorne Social Justice Fund.• Responsible for developing effective policies to create new markets for Hawthorne products in the United States and internationally. • Develop and execute lobbying strategies that supports adoption of Hawthorne’s policy priorities through ballot initiatives, regulation, and legislation at the state, federal, and international levels.• Analyze legislation and regulations to understand their impact to our business and inform senior leadership on recommend courses of action.• Responsible for helping to manage relationships with coalitions and industry partners to support the company’s policy objectives.• Assist with developing and deploying a range of external communications programs and events to support establishing Hawthorne as a leader with industry and elected stakeholders.• Work to establish Hawthorne as the leader and trusted source of information on our industry with stakeholders and opinion leaders.• Assist in management of the Hawthorne Social Justice Fund, the company’s social responsibility platform, focused on addressing the problems caused by the disproportionate number of cannabis-related arrests and incarcerations involving persons of color, job creation, entrepreneurship, and increased investment opportunities in minority communities.
