ABOUT FABIO BENEDETTI
I am currently IBM Distinguished Engineer in IBM Public Cloud unit and before in IBM Cloud SaaS and Software units. My role is an executive-level appointment for employees who have followed a technical career path. It requires technical skills and accomplishments, knowledge of the software business and strategy, successful client engagements, and leadership/management capabilities. I have more than 25 years of experience in the industry occupying various roles in the development, design and architecture of products across all major platforms and technologies, spanning from cloud, distributed systems, and to mainframe. My main expertise is in software architecture and development leading large development teams implementing and delivering complex software projects and products designed for scale, performance and availability. In my current position, I lead the IBM Public Cloud overall platform architecture on issues that cross IaaS, PaaS and the tools and services within IBM and is the lead on many specifications for Cloud operating boundaries, service dependencies, standards and regional sovereignty. I drive the IBM Cloud Architecture guild on alignment across the service portfolio of- New and emerging regulations related to critical infrastructure laws and the impact on Cloud architecture, security and compliance- Resiliency and service management practices to align the IBM Cloud with programs such as the EU Digital Operations Resiliency Act (DORA) and EU NIS and EUCS- Critical documentation of the IBM Cloud system architecture and leads discussions and agreements amongst a community of Cloud DEs, Fellows, and CTOs on the impacts of data processing requirements from customers and regulators. I also drive open architecture/CTO office hours for the community of developers, operators and SREs within IBM Cloud (IaaS and PaaS) covering topics from Service Framework to compliance for the 40+ programs audited for compliance in IBM Cloud to the implications of platform integration standards used across the 100+ services in the IBM Cloud catalog. I also covered the client-facing role of Cloud Computing architect in the IBM Software services organization implementing for several major clients large-scale private cloud computing infrastructures. I have presented at conferences like IBM Interconnect/Pulse/Tech Exchange and user group events. For my technical accomplishments, I have been elected a Member of the IBM Academy of Technology since 2011. Moreover, I have been IBM Master Inventor since 2010 with more then 25 filed patents.
