ABOUT TAYLOR MOWAT

I’m an application security engineer with a focus on empowering development teams with the knowledge, skills and tools to write secure software. With a background in building practical cyber security and application security training and extensive experience as a sales engineer in cybersecurity, I’m now seeking out my next challenge in the application security space. For the last four years, I’ve been building intentionally vulnerable applications and environments for Immersive Labs. Their platform teaches developers and security professionals the tricks of the cybersecurity trade and secure software development practices. I’m most proud of the fundamental role I’ve played in bringing a disruptive and innovative new appsec training product to market, and of the plethora of technologies I’ve learned along the way — please read my experience below for more on that. I get excited playing with new technology, love doing deep dives into new products, tools and languages and thrive on challenging the status quo and driving innovation and change at every opportunity. I’m neurodivergent and proud to admit it! My ADHD gives me untapped passion for things that interest or challenge me. I thrive in crises and when the pressure is on, and I can hyperfocus for extended periods. Sometimes though, I do just have off days; I can be easily distracted and sometimes hyperfocus on the wrong tasks, turning technical research into long, unintended rabbit holes. In typical ADHD style, I’ve been meaning to start a blog and be more active in the community for years! I hope this year is the year, and I have a plan, so stay tuned if you’d like to see where that goes.
