ABOUT TARA DONNELLY

I\'m passionate about bringing people and ideas together to solve important problems. I’ve just started a new role in the SA government where I’ll be working with our partners to promote great initiatives that shine a light on the fantastic SA primary producers and others in the regions. I spent the prior 18 months with Generation Australia managing their government and philanthropic funding portfolio. Prior to that, my role was Head of Communications at The Hunger Project Australia (THP)- responsible for the public communications and public fundraising campaigns that raised hundreds of thousands of dollars to further their mission of ending chronic, persistent hunger through empowering and educating people.My experience working on a shoestring with small teams and budgets means I’m adept at rolling with the punches, jumping on opportunities as they arise, and coming up with ways to make things work even at the last minute, especially drawing on the good relationships I’ve created. My commitment to being part of the solution for some of the world’s biggest problems shows up through the high level of care and responsibility I take for my work, and for those around me. I’m a skilled writer who can expertly translate thoughts and ideas into written form, and can spot a typo from a mile off.Beyond my direct work in partnerships, events, campaigns, communications and fundraising, I’ve also been an integral player in a 5 person exec team at The Hunger Project, making strategic decisions for the wider team and reporting to the board. I’m proud that through the leadership I contributed during my time at THP, we raised tens of millions of dollars and enabled hundreds of thousands of people in rural villages to become self-reliant.During my time at THP, I was promoted twice and was on track for the next career progression. I also had the honour of leading or co-leading a number of leadership immersion programs and major investor due diligence trips to Africa and India.Ongoing personal development is very important to me, and in the last few years I have participated in an 18-month Peeplcoach career coaching program, as well as McKinsey leadership programs, a 12 month intensive management and leadership program with Landmark and more. I also love learning languages and have varying levels of German, Spanish, French and Khmer under my belt.
