WORK HISTORY
Vice President and Chief Diversity & Health Equity Officer @Legacy Health
Portland, OR, US
I lead the strategic integration of diversity, health equity, and inclusion across Legacy Health’s 8 hospitals and 85+ clinics. Partnering directly with the CEO and Board, I bridge the gap between high-level strategy and frontline clinical care. My work focuses on building data literate and ethical environments—using tools like DEI scorecards, heat maps and community based focus groups —to drive accountability and culture change for our organization\'s journey to being an anti-racist organization and employer of choice in our diverse region. From leading innovative REALD/SOGI data initiatives to designing timely CME-qualified health equity curricula, I am dedicated to ensuring every patient receives high-quality care regardless of their demographic or socio-economic background, and that Legacy is recruiting and retaining a culturally responsive, trauma-informed and linguistically concordant workforce.

ABOUT TAE-SUN KIM
I believe that cultural diversity is not a \"bug\" to be fixed or a challenge to be managed—it is an immutable characteristic of our society to be accepted, celebrated and leveraged for innovation whenever possible. My leadership approach is institutionalizing inclusion—shifting the focus from symbolic acts to the rigorous implementation of scalable, systemic solutions that change outcomes as well as hearts and minds.
