ABOUT SYDNEY JOHNSON
I\'m working on making the world a more equal place and designing for the humans in it.I began my service design career in the United Kingdom, collaborating with a diverse range of clients—from large international charities to corporate start-ups. I returned to Canada to champion the practice of service design with a focus on healthcare, corporate, and non-profit work. Today, as the Head of Design at J5 Design, I lead both people and delivery, ensuring our approach is not only innovative but also deeply human-centred, while fostering an environment where our team can excel.Authenticity, purpose, and equality remain at the core of my design practice, which is rooted in codesign and the belief that we can all go farther if we go together. By blending immersive research with collaborative design methodologies, I strive to deeply understand human needs and craft strategies and services that drive meaningful change. Beyond my work at J5 Design, I’m also dedicated to building and supporting the local design community as the co-founder of Service Design YYC.
