ABOUT SUSANNE THIESSEN

Dr. Thiessen, a professor at the University of Victoria\'s School of Public Administration in Canada, focuses on Indigenous governance, resurgence, and resilience and contributes significantly to the scholarly discourse on decolonizing organizations and management practices. In addition to her academic background, Susanne brings practical experience in board governance. Serving on various boards, including the Indigenous Prosperity Center and the South Island. Prosperity Partnership, Susanne has demonstrated leadership and expertise in navigating complex organizational challenges while ensuring Indigenous voice. This hands-on involvement complements the theoretical insights of scholarly works, creating a well-rounded perspective on organizational issues.This combination of academic and practical experience uniquely positions Dr. Thiessen as leader in decolonizing administration and organizations. Applied professional and academic experience in the ethical, cultural design, conduct and analysis of research using primarily qualitative methodologies, especially focusing on Indigenous research, action and feminist approaches. Experienced in policy development, recently focusing on anti-harassment policies and equity and diversity practices. Has researched and developed Indigenous recruitment and retention strategies, advising on business management for Indigenous communities and entrepreneurs, and advised in strategic leadership, cross-cultural leadership, diversity initiatives and training that moves beyond legal requirements and strategic human resource management in other private and public sector settings.Susanne\'s research is focused on the areas of \"Organizational Leadership,\"\"Indigenous Cultural Perspectives,\" & \"Human Resource Management,\" looking specifically at diversity, Indigenous people, and work engagement.
