ABOUT SURAJ SURESH NAIR
I\'m a UX and Digital Accessibility Lead with over a decade of experience designing inclusive, accessible, and user-centred digital experiences across the heritage, higher education, healthcare, finance, FMCG, and technology sectors. My work blends creative problem-solving with accessibility expertise to make digital platforms usable, engaging, and equitable for everyone. At Historic Environment Scotland (HES), I lead digital accessibility initiatives that ensure Scotland\'s historic places and platforms are inclusive and accessible to all. My focus is on embedding accessibility into every stage of design and development—building digital experiences that are as welcoming as the sites they represent. Before joining HES, I led major UX, UI, and accessibility transformation projects at the University of Huddersfield, improving the digital experience for students, staff, and prospective applicants. My work focused on accessibility compliance, content governance, and simplifying complex academic information into clear, engaging, and user-friendly online experiences.Earlier in my career, I delivered end-to-end design and content solutions for global brands including Verizon, Microsoft, KFC, Pizza Hut, and HDFC, working across healthcare, education, finance, and hospitality domains. These roles strengthened my ability to balance user needs, business goals, and technical realities—skills that continue to shape my approach to inclusive design and leadership today. As a W3C-certified Web Accessibility Specialist, I view accessibility as the foundation of exceptional UX, not an afterthought. I believe that great design starts with empathy and inclusion, ensuring every user can interact with digital content seamlessly, regardless of ability or background.
