ABOUT STEWART LANGDOWN FSLL

An experienced director who has worked in lighting for more than 30 years. I have a strong sales and technical background having worked for some of the leading technology companies in this sector. I have a Marketing background as well as managing Sales, Marketing, R&D, Procurement and Manufacturing in various forms. A great deal of my career has been in Business development working with companies to develop new markets for disruptive technologies such as DSI, DALI and DALI Emergency. I have helped to develop and strengthen the Emergency Lighting market for several companies and have worked in Luminaire sales as well as specialist lamp manufacturing. I have developed a specification market for companies who historically had no profile in this area and have created a legacy of specification for lighting controls and emergency testing and monitoring that is still industry leading. I helped to create a Global network of pre-sales engineers for one of the largest players in lighting and in more recent years I have launched new brands and helped them establish a specification market for both controls and emergency. A confident speaker I have lectured on both the Masters and Degree courses in Lighting and currently sit on several technical committees and boards within the Lighting Industry Association. A strong advocate for sustainable lighting I and working to create an awareness of the benefits of smart technology and how the selection of technology is crucial to extend the operating life of your building. I am a Fellow of CIBSE the Society of Light and Lighting FSLL, a Lightmonger and Freeman of the City of London. Specialties: Business Development, Lighting Management, Emergency Lighting, Marketing and Commercial skills. I am a confident Presenter and have spoken to a wide range of audiences on various topics over the years. Strong People skills with the ability to communicate and socialise at all levels. An engineer by training I have a strong technical knowledge and have written and presented papers on Lighting Control, Drivers, Emergency Lighting as well as the Internet of Things IoT. I keep at the forefront of technology and have striven to develop the market into a smarter, safer, and more connected space.
