ABOUT STEPHEN ASHBEE

I am a Senior Talent Acquisition Partner at Personio specialising in hiring senior technical talent across software engineering, data, infrastructure, AI and ML. My background spans frontend, backend, fullstack engineering, mobile, deep AI research at Meta and more recently I have been helping build and scale Personio’s AI and ML function from the ground up.Although most of my experience has been in tech, my remit has expanded. For the last four months I have also been supporting the business side of Personio, hiring across revenue, sales leadership, GTM operations and strategy roles. This combination of technical and commercial focus has strengthened my position as a true internal talent partner to the business, not just a recruiter filling roles.What I typically hire- Staff, Principal, Distinguished Engineers and senior engineering leaders- ML and AI Engineers, MLOps, data platform and infrastructure talent- Product design, content design and UX- Revenue, GTM and operational leadership rolesOutside of work I started practising yoga three times a week in February this year. It has been one of the best decisions I have made for both physical and mental health. If you are into fitness, I would genuinely recommend swapping a couple of heavy lifting sessions for yoga. You will thank me later.When I am not working or at yoga I am usually playing Warzone, on the Peloton, or attempting DIY in the 1930s house we are modernising. I am not good at DIY but improving slowly.My approach is simple. I do not see recruitment as filling vacancies. I partner closely with leadership to build long term hiring strategies, shape teams and influence critical decisions that impact the direction of the company. I am direct, honest and focused on outcomes.
