ABOUT STACIA FRANZ
Stacia Franz has more than a decade of experience as a legal, public relations and communications strategist and advisor. Her background in sociology, corporate law and public relations has led her to work in corporate, education, political, community organizations and agencies in increasingly senior positions. This includes her current roles as founder of Check on the Strong Ones.ca, owner of Franz House Communications and senior manager of communications at St.Amant. Previously she served as director of marketing and communications with the World Police and Fire Games 2023 (Winnipeg), instructor in the Communication Management post-graduate diploma program at Red River College Polytechnic. Other previous roles include manager and director of communications with the Assembly of Manitoba Chiefs, communications, creative, digital media and social media strategist positions with the Manitoba government and work with the Manitoba Institute of Trades and Technology and the Winnipeg Chamber of Commerce. She holds a Bachelor of Arts degree (sociology, English) from the University of Manitoba (2008), a Creative Communications Diploma (public relations, marketing) from Red River College (2011), specialized certificates in Corporate and Cyber Law from the London School of Economics and Politics (2014) and a Bachelor of Law (Honours) from the University of Kent (2015). She was called to the bar in Manitoba in 2022 after articling in Winnipeg. She is currently pursuing her PHD in Global Mental Health. In 2022, Stacia lost her husband of 15 years to suicide. She is leading the development of a new organization to help raise awareness about mental health and suicide, and to advocate for more supports to help address these ongoing issues in our communities. Stacia also has volunteered extensively with a wide range of community organizations, including the Community Legal Education Association, Junior Achievement of Manitoba, Habitat for Humanity International, the Canadian Public Relations Society, the Canadian Breast Cancer Foundation, the United Way of Winnipeg and the Future Leaders of Manitoba Council. Her interests include reading, travelling, food and yoga. She lives in Winnipeg with her dogs Dover and Mycroft, and two kittens Esme and Atticus.
