I work in the confluence of high-resolution observations from the ground and space using multiple observations from NASA\'s IRIS, HiC, Hinode, and SDO satellites and combine them with brilliant observations from the ground using data from the Swedish 1-m Solar Telescope (SST). My interest lies in understanding the solar (outer) atmospheric heating problem commonly known as the coronal heating problem.

ABOUT SOUVIK BOSE

I’m a Research Scientist at the SETI Institute / Lockheed Martin Solar & Astrophysics Lab, where I develop machine-learning–driven pipelines for NASA missions. My work lies at the intersection of physics-based modeling, simulation, and modern ML, focusing on extracting structure and predictive insight from complex, high-dimensional data.I build and analyze ML systems for uncertainty quantification, data compression, and model evaluation, integrating physical principles with data-driven learning. Lately, I’ve been exploring transformer architectures and interpretability methods to better understand how models learn and represent underlying physical or causal relationships—whether in scientific, geospatial, or real-world settings.With a Ph.D. in Astrophysics (University of Oslo) and an M.Tech. in Astronomical Instrumentation (Indian Institute of Astrophysics, Bangalore), I’m passionate about bridging scientific reasoning and AI, developing tools that make complex models and datasets more interpretable, generalizable, and useful beyond their original domains.
