As an Investment Planner in the Distribution Asset Management team, my responsibilities include the following:• Conduct technical / economic / regulatory impact assessments and other specialized analysis to determine distribution system needs related to distribution stations, lines, and generation.• Conduct load flow, short-circuit, and protection coordination analysis using CYMEDIST and CYMTCC to determine distribution system impacts of new customer connections (or existing customer upgrades). These analyses are also carried out for power quality complaints and area studies. • Develop business cases to justify an investment on the distribution grid. This process involves assessing different alternatives and recommending the option with the highest risk spend efficiency in most cases.• Create Scope of Work (SOW) documents by defining the steps involved in a project on the distribution grid. Examples of SOWs I’ve released are line expansions, voltage regulator installation, information verification, upgrading reclosers to a higher nameplate rating, feeder offload, voltage conversion of overhead distribution lines, etc.
