ABOUT SEAN MADDEN

I am currently the Vice President of Experience Design and Research for Best Buy and lead a global team of product designers, researchers, content designers, and strategists. Our team is responsible for the entire digital portfolio of the company, from ecommerce to supply chain. As a Group Director of Design at Walmart, I was responsible for the design of a broad portfolio of digital products that serve Walmart\'s customers and associates. I led a team of 80+ designers looking after the Health & Wellness portfolio, Walmart+, omnichannel services, design research, and design system. I also built and led a team responsible for the physical experience in the stores, including the front end and key service areas (auto care, etc.). Prior to Walmart, I worked at Nike envisioning and delivering new consumer experiences at retail for the entire marketplace. This role oversaw product, service, environment, and digital capabilities required to consistently execute around the world. I have also held multiple agency leadership roles at frog Design and Ziba design, where I led innovation programs for FedEx, Intel, Carnival Cruise Lines, and helped develop MyMagic+- an integrated guest experience system for Disney Parks.I have lectured on Interaction Design at California College of the Arts and served on the Yale Executive School of Management innovation faculty. Drawing on these experiences, I have written and lectured extensively about the effects of emerging technologies on service delivery and information networks, for publications such as Fast Company, Harvard Business Review and Wired.
