The key to SRI’s success has been structuring its polling around four pillars: Political, Economic, Social/Cultural and Client polls. SRI is now an important part of the political and economic discourse in New York State—politicians, pundits, economists and the media all ask, “What did the last Siena Poll say?” When referring to statewide attitudes and opinions regarding economic sentiment, favorability of politicians and significant economic, political, social or cultural issues, people look to Siena.SRI’s monthly political and economic polls have become must-reads for NYS business leaders and government officials, and are widely cited by major regional and national newspapers, including Newsday, the Wall Street Journal, and the New York Times. SRI’s polls are regularly featured on local and network television and radio, and have been covered by media giants such as Chris Matthews, Sean Hannity, and Jon Stewart. During the 2013 election cycle, the New York Times partnered with SRI on three public opinion polls regarding the highly publicized Mayoral and State Comptroller races in New York City (in which Anthony Weiner and Eliot Spitzer were candidates, respectively). Not only is our partnership with the Times an accomplishment that, in our world, elevates us to the highest level of distinction, but our continuing partnerships with Newsday, Buffalo News, Rochester Democrat and Chronicle, Syracuse Post Standard, and Your News Now (YNN) puts Siena front and center with news, politics, and media across the state of New York and nationally.
