ABOUT SID KAITHAKKODEN

I am a Consultant Community Paediatrician with over two decades of experience in paediatrics and a specialist interest in neurodevelopmental medicine, particularly autism spectrum disorder, ADHD, and developmental disorders. I have been practising as an NHS consultant for the past nine years and remain committed to delivering high-quality clinical care while contributing actively to medical education and service development. Teaching and training have been a central part of my professional career. I currently work as an Educational Supervisor and Clinical Supervisor for paediatric trainees and have previously served as a Clinical Academy Tutor. I regularly contribute to trainee teaching programmes and undergraduate medical education, including participation as an OSCE examiner for final-year medical students. These roles have given me experience in structured clinical assessment, supporting trainee progression, and maintaining high standards in clinical education. Prior to returning to the NHS, I worked for ten years in the Middle East, gaining valuable international clinical and training experience. During this time I became fluent in Arabic and worked within diverse healthcare systems, which strengthened my interest in supporting postgraduate medical training across different regions. My professional interests include medical education, structured clinical assessment, neurodevelopmental paediatrics, and leadership in paediatric services. I am particularly interested in contributing to national and international training initiatives and supporting the next generation of paediatricians through roles in examination, faculty development, and educational leadership. I welcome opportunities to collaborate in areas such as MRCPCH examination, postgraduate training, paediatric education programmes, and service development within child health.
