ABOUT SHAUNE ELDRED
I grew up in an entrepreneurial family and learned very early the ebbs and flows of running a business. At 8 years old I took over my mom’s Avon route and grew the business by 50% in one year. I was hooked on entrepreneurship!Fast forward to 1992 my husband was one of the first members of TEC Canada in Calgary, an organization that supports CEO’s and business owners. This was during a time when our company (Minerva) was going through very rapid growth and we discovered the value of having a like-minded peer network.I helped grow Minerva from 10 employees to 250 when we sold, with offices in Canada and USA. We hit every benchmark most companies hope for: Fastest Growing 100, Fastest 50, Canada Award for Business Excellence and Microsoft Awards.My next venture was founder/president of an executive office provider (Athene Offices) offering fully furnished offices and business related services. The business grew rapidly and we expanded with two new facilities… then the 2008 recession hit. We had offices sitting empty so I took a bold move and invested a large sum of money in rebranding and advertising. As a result, we were able to fill our new office centres when none of our competitors could.I focused on Angel Investments for a time, as I have a passion for helping businesses grow and prosper, so I couldn’t refuse when TEC Canada asked me to start an entrepreneur round table in the Okanagan Valley to help business owners grow better, faster and with less stress. Each group of entrepreneurs can only have one member from any one industry in order to create an environment of collaboration, support and diversity. Some of the industries involved in my groups are Healthcare, Construction, Tourism, Real Estate, Mobile Storage, Recycling, Marketing, Video Game Development, Technology, Professional Services, and Viticulture.My newest TEC role is as a member of TEC faculty, dedicated to mentoring new Chairs. The role of faculty members at TEC is to guide new Chairs through comprehensive training on candidate selection and building their TEC group. They empower these leaders to be effective by enhancing their collaboration and facilitation skills, as well as fostering a supportive environment for their members to thrive.
