ABOUT SHANNON KATARY
Shannon Katary joined Health Science North (HSN) in April 2025 as the Strategic Lead, Internal Communications. Shannon manages the internal communication strategy and initiatives for HSN, HSNRI and HSN Foundation that build an informed and engaged culture, rooted in patient-centred, healthcare excellence, while inspiring staff and the community across the organization.Shannon has 19 years and counting in Strategic Marketing, Communications and Community Relations in the Global Mining Industry. Formerly, the Manager Corporate Communications, Corporate Affairs, Vale Base Metals. Focused on Global Corporate Communications, Crisis Management and Media Relations. She also had previous roles at Vale where she coordinated internal communications for the North Atlantic Operations; managed Vale\'s Socio-environmental investments for Ontario Operations; supported public and media relations in developing strategic internal and external facing communications, special projects and events.Prior to Vale, the Director of Marketing & Communications of Maestro Digital Mine. At Maestro she managed and developed the strategic branding, media relations and marketing for Sales. Previously, held the position of Vice President of Marketing & Communications for CEMI - Centre for Excellence in Mining Innovation and the Ultra Deep Mining Network (UDMN).She is a lifelong volunteer and avid mountain biker and rower. Currently, on the Senate for Victoria University - University of Toronto. She is the past Co-Chair of MMTS – Modern Mining & Technology Sudbury, dedicated to inspiring the next generation to pursue a career in mining and STEM. She is also the recipient of the CIM – Bedford Canadian Young Leaders in Mining Award.
