ABOUT SHAKIRA R.

Greetings! I am a rising third-year law student (3L) at Rutgers Law School in Newark, New Jersey. My current roles include serving as an Managing Editor for Rutgers Computer and Technology Law Journal, Minority Student Program and Academic Success Program Teaching Fellow, Co-Mentorship Chair of the Women\'s Law Forum, and I am a current Eagleton Fellow. In addition to my academic pursuits, I am honored to represent impactful groups at Rutgers Law School Newark, including the Association of Latin-American Law Students, Intellectual Property Law Society, and Society for Corporate Law. Recognizing the current underrepresentation, with only 5% of Latinx lawyers in the field, I am motivated to contribute to the diversification of perspectives within the legal profession. During the summer of my 1L year I successfully completed the Federal Communication Bar Association (FCBA) Diversity Pipeline Program and received a certification for Technology, Media and Telecommunication Law (TMT). I was selected to participate in this year\'s Intellectual Property Law Institute hosted by the Hispanic National Bar Association. My legal interests span Intellectual Property, Privacy, Cybersecurity, Land Use, Insurance and Reinsurance. I welcome the opportunity to connect with professionals who share a passion for law, education, and advocacy.
