ABOUT SERENA LOSONCZY
In over twenty-five years of practicing architecture, Serena has devoted her career to designing vibrant, sustainable environments for educational and cultural institutions. Her people-centered approach to design consistently delivers joyful spaces with an identifiable and welcoming sense of place. Having served as the architect for numerous non-profit institutions in the Northeast, her expertise ranges from master planning and architectural design to intricate adaptive reuse projects. She has a particular strength in designing within historic contexts. As a strategic thinker and imaginative problem-solver, she collaborates closely with clients to identify project goals and deliver responsive and meaningful architecture that reflects each institution’s unique vision. Her projects have won numerous international and local awards, and she frequently shares her knowledge through conferences, webinars, publications and design charrettes. Serena’s commitment to environmentally responsible architecture is evident in her work, which includes the design of a Net-Zero energy residence hall for Williams College and New York’s State’s very first LEED-certified K-12 school, Poly Prep Lower School. Passionate about preserving the city’s wetlands and forested areas, she is a licensed Super Steward and regularly volunteers with the NYC Parks Department and the Natural Areas Conservancy. She also co-chairs the AIA NY Education Committee and serves on the Executive Committee of the Friends of Alley Pond Park.
